Key Features

Versatile Compatibility

Designed for universal fit, the Drone Life Line can be effortlessly mounted on all consumer drones using a simple Velcro strap and securely attached to FPV drones with an M3 screw.

Lightweight and Durable

Weighing only 20g and crafted from durable nylon plastic, it ensures minimal impact on flight performance while providing a robust safety net.

Depth Recovery

Able to retrieve drones from up to 50 meters of water depth. With a multifilament silk (UHMWPE) designed for 4 kg, there is enough leeway to reliably lift drones up to 2 kg.

Supports Heavier Drones

The 18-gram system is perfectly suited to protect a DJI Mini or other drones under 250g over water surfaces.

Why Choose Drone Life Line

  • Peace of Mind: While the Drone Life Line provides a robust safety mechanism, we acknowledge that drone recovery can be influenced by various factors. Although not a 100% guarantee, it significantly elevates the chances of retrieving your drone from unintended water landings, ensuring peace of mind during your aerial adventures.

  • Prevent Loss: Safeguard your drone and its footage from being lost in water.

  • Environmentally Considerate: Protects water bodies from potential pollution caused by unrecoverable drones.

  • Ease of Use: No special training required and comes with a comprehensive usage manual.

  • Reusable: Simply insert a new water-soluble capsule to reactivate after each use.

How it Works

In the unfortunate event of your drone landing in water, the Drone Life Line leaps into action! A floating body is ejected and rushes to the surface, bringing along a lifeline directly connected to your submerged drone. Simply pull the line, and retrieve your drone along with all its precious footage, saved securely from the watery abyss.

Manual

1 . Mounting the Drone Life Line

For Consumer Drones:

  • Step 1: Attach the DLL using the provided Velcro.

  • IMPORTANT: Ensure no visual sensors are obstructed to maintain drone functionality and prevent flyaways. If sensors are covered, deactivate them before launch.

  • Pro Tip: In case of abnormal drone behavior, switch to Sport mode immediately to disable the sensor system.

For FPV Drones:

  • Step 1: Screw the M3 screw through the Mount into the standoff.

  • Step 2: Securely tighten the screw into the drone frame, ensuring the DLL is firmly attached.

  • IMPORTANT: Ensure the DLL can be ejected without encountering any obstacles.

2. Reactivating the DLL System

  • Step 1: Remove the lid by pushing the front of it back a little bit and pull it up so it snaps out.

  • Step 2: Insert a new Bobbin with the Line going through the hole, ensuring the line unspools effortlessly.

  • Step 3: Press the Ejection Pod (with the float and the new bobbin) into the Mount as far as possible, compressing the spring.

  • Step 4: Insert the capsule into the slot. The Ejection Pod should be held in place by the tablet, keeping the spring compressed.
  • Pro Tip: You can use the remaining recovery line after a rescue operation by cutting and re-tying it to the Mount. Ensure you’re aware of the remaining line length and its suitable operational water depth.
  • IMPORTANT: To ensure that the Bobbin can unrole resistance-free DO NOT WIND THE LINE YOUR SELF.

3. Utilizing the DLL Over Rivers

  • For operations over rivers, utilize the included hydrofoil by sliding it over the mount and onto the float, than clipping it in place at the bottom.
  • IMPORTANT: The swimmer may remain below the surface of the water if the river is over 4 meters deep and flowing at a speed of approximately 1m/s. At higher flow speeds, the float is brought to the surface of the water using the hydrofoil provided. It´s crucial to retrieve the float immediately after it surfaces following a crash. Do not wait until the cord has fully unwound. Depending on the speed of the river´s flow, you may have only a few minutes to do so.

4. Repacking the DLL After Dry Use

If the DLL system is used without water contact, ensure it is repacked properly to maintain its functionality.

Note: Always adhere to drone safety regulations and guidelines. The DLL serves as a retrieval aid and does not guarantee 100% recovery in all conditions. Always prioritize safety during drone operations.

The Capsule should be replaced all 5 Years.

Mount Examples

Either mount the Drone Life Line using the Velcro strap, primarily for consumer drones, or utilize a screw and the standoff, predominantly for attaching it to FPV drones.

FAQ

Can the cord break?

The durability of the cord depends on the drone’s weight and the angle at which it is lifted from the water. To minimize the risk of breakage, it’s crucial to lift the drone as vertically as possible. For drones weighing above 2kg, there is an increased chance that the line may break due to the weight. It’s important to handle the recovery process with care to ensure the safety of your drone.

Can the Drone Life Line be used over rivers?

The Drone Life Line comes with an additional fin that can be clipped onto the float, enabling its use over rivers. However, depending on the river’s flow speed and depth, the float may be submerged once the cord is fully extended. In fast-flowing rivers deeper than 4 meters, it’s important to retrieve the float immediately after it surfaces following a crash, rather than waiting until the cord has fully unwound.

Will the Drone Life Line affect my drone's flight performance?

The Drone Life Line is designed to be as lightweight and aerodynamic as possible, weighing only 20g. While it has minimal impact on flight performance, it’s always a good practice to familiarize yourself with the drone’s handling after attaching any external device.

Is the Drone Life Line reusable?

Absolutely! After a deployment, you can reactivate the Drone Life Line by inserting a new water-soluble tablet and re-coiling the rescue reel. This makes it a cost-effective solution for drone safety.

Can the Drone Life Line be used with any drone model?

Yes, the Drone Life Line is versatile and can be mounted on almost any consumer drone. It uses a Velcro attachment for consumer drones and can be securely fastened to FPV drones with an M3 screw through the mounting hole.
